I'm leaving the politics on the shelf for today, not because I'm tired of it, but because I wanted to write about something else...

It's a beautiful day here in Texas, after what started off to be an ugly dreary day. Everything is starting to green up, and the flowers are beginning to bloom. The fragrance of the Jasmine just outside my back door is so intense that I know spring is near. As I walked around my neighborhood I noticed a yard with some beautiful roses. They weren't your traditional red roses, but were bright yellows and orange instead. As I continued to walk I reflected on a conversation I had with someone earlier in the day... I won't go into the details, but our conversation covered the topic of acceptance. So how are each of us viewed? Do we really care? I know I don't care on how others view me, not because it doesn't bother me, but more because I never do things to please others, but instead to please myself. When I express myself I do it for me. If someone trashes me for whatever I write, create, or do, then that's fine by me. I live for me and no one else... We can't be perfect, or can we? Is perfection obtainable? I know I dream about it, but is it? Earlier I mentioned the beautiful roses that I saw while taking a walk around my neighborhood, although they were beautiful, were they perfect? I'm sure in someone's eyes they were. Isn't that awesome knowing that to someone these roses could potentially be the picture of perfection? Imagine a room with hundreds of roses, from vibrant reds, to rich bright yellows, to deep pinks that are extremely seductive... Can you imagine the scent and fragrance within this room? Now imagine from all the beautiful roses within this room, that special one that grabs your attention... now picture it cradled in your hands, the softness of the petals, the fragrance of the rose... now how's that for perfection... Imagine and it can happen.... So is perfection obtainable? I think it is, but it's on an individual basis. So don't worry what about what others think... do what you feel is good for you, and those that matter will see the perfection in you... If they don't then they are missing the best that you have to offer...

Welcome to TEXAS is a common phrase around here, but lately there has been a dispute on whether we should pull the sign. It's a fact that our borders are as porous as swiss cheese, and it's also a fact that hundreds of people each year come into our country through Texas. I find myself struggling with this topic for many reasons, but mainly because I know there are a lot of people that are just here to find a job and to experience the American dream. The problem that I have with this is that they do it illegally. In the news these days you hear about the violence at the borders between drug cartel and Mexican authorities. I have to give the Mexican government some credit because they are trying to do something about the drug trafficing. This took some courage on their part to confront this very big problem, not only for them, but for us as well. This past week an Officer was shot in the face while trying to arrest a suspected drug dealer in Houston. The suspect was shot and died at the scene. The officer is still hospitalized and my prayers go out to him and his family. The Mayor of Houston, who just happens to be a Democrat came out and held a news conference stating that he was very upset with the Federal Government. He expressed his disappointment in the Federal Government for not doing their job in deporting known criminals. One of the things that has been debated here in Houston for several years is granting our local law enforcement officers the authority to ask people they arrest if they are here in the country legally. I don't know why they can't, if they shouldn't be here, then I say deport them. I'm tired of people circumventing the system... Many are questioning the Mayor's sincerity. They feel that if he really wanted to do something about this that he would. They feel that he is just show boating and positioning himself for his next political aspiration. Rumor has it that he will be running for Governor or the Senate in the future, so he is pandering for votes. I just wish someone would step up and address this ever growing problem once and for all!

It's Just a Movie, Isn't It?

Have you ever wondered how ideas for movies come about? Sure it takes imagination and creative abilities to think some of these things up, but have you ever thought how similar things are to current events. When I first saw this movie years ago I thought to myself surely people couldn't be this stupid, but after this year's elections I'm beginning to wonder. Movie moguls and most of this industry is made up of liberals, so could they be telling us something? Are we really the sheep that everyone thinks we are? I would have to agree that we are surrounded by a few millions, but I have faith that there are still independent, thought provoking, authority challenging, people in this great nation of ours. I'm very concerned about the tomorrows yet to come, and fearful of the future in stored for our children. Will 2012 get here soon? The "change" made in 2008 may not be as good as some may think.... Informed or Not To Be Informed, That is The Question!

Informed voter, do you consider yourself one? This past Presidential election was a first on many fronts. A bi-racial man ran for President of the United States. What? Didn't you know? Mr. Obama is half white, or did everyone forget about that? Oops I went off on a tangent, so where was I? Oh yes, I was on this past election's firsts... A female was selected as the candidate for the Republican party for the office of Vice President, and to close out the list of firsts, the liberal media orchestrated and solidified the winning of the election, ok I actually mean they stole the office of the Presidency.

So how did this happen? Well I have my suspicions, but I won't elaborate on that here... maybe some other day, but not today. So recently I learned about a website that talks about how Mr. Obama got elected. I visited the site, mostly out of curiosity, but found some of the information interesting.

Texas Independence was Celebrated March 2, 2009

Yesterday we celebrated the Independence of Texas. I guess you would have to be a Texan to appreciate the history of this great state... For those that didn't know, Texans fought against the Mexican army in many battles throughout the state to gain it's Independence. One of the most heroic battles that became the battle cry of the people of Texas was the battle at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. There were approximately 200 Texans that held off approximately 5000 Mexican soldiers for days. We were once a Republic and stood alone, maybe we should stand alone once again!

Each afternoon as I make the drive home from work I listen to talk radio or some news station, and I usually think about events while sitting in traffic or at stop lights. As I was listening to the radio yesterday I heard about more bailout money for AIG... So as I sat in traffic I thought about the 200 Texans that stood and fought against the 5000 Mexican soldiers, and it made me think about the handful of Republicans that are standing now against the big government, big spending, pork generating, liberals in the house and senate. To them I say "Remember the Alamo" and continue to fight the battle.

The Alamo in San Antonio is one of the most famous historical sites in the United States and the most visited historical site in Texas. It’s most interesting heritage draws people from all walks of life to the place where others lived, worked and fought in the name of Liberty.
The Alamo was originally named Misión San Antonio de Valero and was founded in 1724. It served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years.

In the early 1800s, the Spanish military stationed a cavalry unit at the former mission. The soldiers referred to the old mission as the Alamo in honor of their hometown Alamo de Parras, Coahuila. The Calvary commander established the first hospital of record in Texas in the Long Barrack.
San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution. In 1835, Ben Milam led Texans and Tejanos against Mexican troops quartered in the city. Five days of fighting, forced General Marín Perfecto de Cós and his soldiers to surrender. These victorious volunteers then occupied the Alamo and strengthened its defenses.
In February and March 1836 one of the most heroic battles in history was fought at the Alamo. The Texas forces commanded by William B. Travis, renowned knife fighter James Bowie, and famed frontiersman and former congressman from Tennessee Davy Crockett. Reduced to a mere 157 men, Travis appealed for help and 30 additional men joined the defenders. According to legend, with the possibility of additional help fading, Colonel Travis drew a line on the ground and asked any man willing to stay and fight to step over and all except one did.
These courageous men held the Alamo for an additional 5 days against the centralist army of General Antonio López de Santa Anna, before it fell. The deaths of the Alamo Defenders have come to symbolize courage and sacrifice for the cause of Liberty in early America. The defenders believed that the Alamo was the key to the defense of Texas.

While the facts surrounding the siege of the Alamo continue to be debated, there is no doubt about what the battle has come to symbolize. People worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a heroic struggle against overwhelming odds — a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty.

Why a Blog?

Why would anyone take the time to create a blog? Some may say it's a waste of time, while others will think just the opposite. For me it's more of therapy, yes therapy... After a long day of work, being bombarded with the troubles of world, our economic lows, etc... it made sense to use this as my sounding board. I was talking to a close friend of mine a couple of weeks ago whose opinion I value a lot, and we discussed how our country was being changed, and in our opinions a change that is not for the better. So here I am, writing about things that I feel I should sound off on. These are my opinions, so like the saying goes everyone has one just like everyone has an a.......!

As a kid growing up I remember my Father getting up at the crack of dawn to head out to work each day. Like clock work, rain or shine, off he went. My Dad believed that if you worked hard no matter what you did to make a living you could stand tall and be proud of your contributions. My Dad led by example, he was a hard working man that came to this wonderful country of ours to experience the American dream. He never asked for handout, and earned everything he had. So where did these ideals go? Today our great Nation is being changed, and in my view it's not for the better. It's funny how most people say that change is good, but how can change to socialism be good? How can we have a government that will support people that won't (emphasis on won't) support themselves? Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that we shouldn't help the less fortunate, but helping people that would prefer to sit at home wanting a free ride at the expense of others, then I say NO! I recently attended a party where you had people from all walks of life. Some discussed sports, others the economy, and the people that I was interacting with were discussing realestate. From our innitial conversation, one guy disclosed that he owned three properties, another owned five, and I was thinking, wow I only own one and that was plenty for me. Anyway, as the night went on, we somehow started discussing politics and everyone shared their political views. The person with the three properties was a big Obama supporter. He said, "I believe and I'm in favor of making the playing field even for everyone", so I asked, so you are into socialism? He said, "if it helps others then yes I am". I asked no matter if the person wants to work or not? He said people want to work, but they don't have the opportunities that others have. I was thinking to myself, what planet did this person come from... I then said, let me give you a hypothetical, so I asked.... What if we went down the socialistic path and the government came to you tomorrow and told you since you have three homes and you can't live in all of them at once, why don't you give two of them to someone that doesn't have a home today. I saw the look of puzzlement on his face, and he responded why would they do that. I responded to help make the playing field even for all... isn't that what you said you were in favor of? He said, well not with my properties... I just laughed and said so it's okay as long as it doesn't impact you directly...

So what do you think? If you were the one with more money, more properties, better off than others, no matter how hard you worked to achieve what you have, would you be willing to give up equal shares to make the playing field even? Sound off, I'm interested in how other hard working Americans feel about this, especially those who voted for Obama, and support his new form of government...
